Eastview

Activities
Eastview is in the middle of an oustanding area of natural beauty, a "National Scenic Area" in fact. There are many local walks to sandy beaches, rugged coastline or impressive sea cliffs. The wild seascape, sea birds and other sea life such as seals are very accessible . Much of the archeology, economic, religious and social history of the area are also close to the surface and close at hand.

You are never far from the sea in Shetland and there are many stunning walks to breath-taking seascapes around Eastview.

Papil, where Eastview is located, is one of the most significant historic settlements in Shetland. Aincient Celtic artifacts like the Monks Stone (above) and the Papil Stone were found in St Laurences Church across the road from Eastview.

Just up the road from Eastview you can find a restored thatched cottage and croft buildings at Easthouse. This has been restored as a local heritage centre by the Burra History Group and can be visited by arrangement.

In the mid-summer months there is little real darkness in Shetland, you can read a newspaper outdoors at midnight.

Shetland Sheep and Shetland kritware are justly famous worldwide.
